2nd April – Shrinkpots – The first session is “Shrink Pot Making” and will introduce participants to methods of drilling greenwood, in cannel gouges, spoon knives, sloyd knives and small scorps all used to make the basic shrink pot. A shrink pot is a container made from a piece of branch wood, hollowed out while still green then fitted with an internal base. It relies on the shrinking properties of drying wood to make the pot water tight…if you are lucky!
7th May – Baskets – This session is about willow working making several items – giant willow flower, willow fish, small foraging basket.
11th June – Swedish coat hooks – This session is making hand carved Swedish Coat Hooks. You will learn axe skills, wood carving with knives to produce several lovely hooks.
9th July – Small carved bowl – This session will show you how to carve a small bowl using green wood carving techniques.
All tools and materials are provided as well as a campfire lunch. Suitable for beginners or more skilled paricipants. ALL OUR FOOD AND DRINK IS ENTIRELY PLANT-BASED. We will provide for all dietary requirements.
This is about as nurturing as it gets. These sessions are suitable for absolute beginners and improvers.
We also run craft classes and drop ins at a variety of venues around the north of England. One offs for your arts centre or summer fair, or weekly sessions with your clients for a term or two, can all be delivered covering a range of woodland crafts and ages. Please get in touch if you want to discuss your ideas.
We also run our own sessions. These have recently included making a foraging basket and geodome building. To find out what we have planned, check out: https://bookwhen.com/natureslivingroomcic
